Charlie graduated from Durham University with a 2:1 (Hons) degree in English Literature and then went on to gain experience at a major tuition company. In order to better understand her pupils she gained teaching experience from a top private senior school and was employed as a local Youth Worker, dealing with children aged 7 – 12.

Charlie’s first love is literature and she has a real passion for getting kids reading. She specialised in Children’s Literature at university and has used this background to develop our unique Reading Club. As well as this, she teaches English to GCSE as well as KS2 Maths and Verbal Reasoning.

Kate joined Lucky Gecko in 2007 and was an instant hit with our students. Her relaxed and approachable manner, coupled with her enthusiasm and professionalism, have made for an excellent tutor who always gets the best out of her students.

Coming from a family of teachers, Kate always knew that her heart was in education. She graduated with a 2:1 (Hons) degree from Leeds University and then worked briefly in the city before realising that she wanted a more rewarding occupation. She has since gained experience at a number of primary schools and has worked as a volunteer for two children’s charities.

At Lucky Gecko, she has been instrumental in developing a number of courses as well as teaching Maths to KS3, English to KS2 and French.

Luke joined Lucky Gecko in 2009 and has quickly established himself as a key part of our growing team. His confident and professional style, as well as his driven and motivational attitude has impressed both parents and students alike.

Luke refers to himself as a ‘typical boy’ and a fan of all things sports related, though his academic record is also fantastic. He studied at Brunel University and recently graduated with a 1st class degree in English Literature.  Luke has a considerable range of experience working with children of all ages, from working in summer schools with international students, to coaching swimming to children with learning difficulties. His energy and ambition is infectious and his ability to engage with our students has made him not only an inspiring tutor but a great role model for them too.

At Lucky Gecko, Luke has been working with us to develop our Year 4 General Skills and Year 6 Revision courses, as well as coordinating our fun days and teaching lessons one–to-one.
